This hands-on foundation course is ideal for beginners or anyone looking to refine their technique. It’s split into two sections—Drawing and Classical Oil Painting—which can be booked individually or together as a full foundation programme.
✏️ Part 1: Drawing Course for Beginners
5 x 3-hour sessions

A step-by-step introduction to core drawing skills that build confidence and strengthen observational abilities.
Topics covered:

Line drawing

Positive & negative space

Tonal values (light, medium, dark)

Drawing from still life and plaster casts

Mediums: pencil & charcoal
🎨 Part 2: Classical Oil Painting
(Methods & Materials of the Late 16th–17th Century)
5 x 3-hour sessions
Fee: £325
Learn the traditional techniques used by Renaissance masters, including layering, underpainting, and glazing.
You’ll explore:

Preparing a canvas

Creating an underpainting

Mixing pigments and applying glazes

Building a painting in layers over time

You can choose to start at the beginning of term or join the oil painting course after half term

All materials are included, including specialist glazes, pigments, brushes, canvas, pencils, charcoal, and paper
Please bring:
