Step back in time and discover the secrets of the Old Masters in this hands-on course, designed to introduce you to traditional oil painting techniques used during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
This course is perfect for beginners or those with some experience who are curious about classical methods. You’ll be guided step-by-step through the historic process of building an oil painting—from preparing your canvas to applying luminous layers of colour.

The process of creating an underpainting to establish form and value

How to mix dry pigments with oil to make your own paint

Application of glazes and layers to achieve depth and richness in colour

All specialist materials are provided, including:

What to Bring:

Old clothes or apron

Indoor shoes (if needed for the venue)

Cotton buds & clean rags from home (optional but useful)

This course is the second half of the Foundation Course, but can be booked on its own if you already feel confident with basic drawing.
